After a long day trip to hike in Big Bend National Park, I drove into Marathon after the sun had set and it was pitch dark. Enticed by the light at Ernesto's gas station, I stopped, dragged out my tripod, totally guessed on exposure (bulb setting- counting off several seconds)- and shot my last frame. I love this station in the day just as much. The roof evokes immediate nostalgia, the pumps are from another time but operate fine. You pump first, watching the numbers flip by, then go in to pay, usually greeted by the owner, Ernesto.
